Benefits

What are the benefits of having an electric car charger installed in your home?

Opting for electric car charger installation will make your life so much easier. Here are just a few benefits you’ll appreciate:

Electric Car Charger Levels

There are three different levels of electric car chargers you should know if you already own an electric car or are thinking about buying one.

Level 1

The Level 1 electric car charger is generally the charger you will get when you purchase the car. It uses a standard outlet and looks very similar to a standard extension cord. This type of charger generally recharges around 4 miles of power per hour, meaning to get a full charge on most electric cars will take at least 30 hours.

Level 2

The Level 2 electric car charger is the other residential option. It uses a 240 volt outlet, which is the same outlet size used by an electric dryer, water heater and other kitchen appliances. Widely viewed as the best option for charging your electric car at home, Level 2 chargers recharge between 12 and 30 miles of power per hour, meaning it will only take between 6 and 12 hours to get a full charge. This makes it a much more efficient and practical charger. Level 2 chargers will require a South Jersey electrician to make updates to your existing electric in most cases.

Level 3

The Level 3 electric car chargers are those used at commercial charging stations. They are commonly known as DC Fast Charging and they use 480 volts, which is why they are not used in residential settings. They provide charging at a rate of 3-15 miles of power per minute, meaning you are able to get a full charge rapidly.
